Today I reached page 303 of the
book 'A Casual Vacancy'. This is the last book I need to finish before Thursday.
I've read three other books as well; Jamaica Inn, Hard times and Brick Lane.
With each book I write down words I don't know yet and look up the
significance. I store these words in a notebook and repeat them ones in a
while. As a result, my vocabulary improves bit by bit. Not only by reading them
down and reprise them, but also by recognizing the words later on in the book
or in another book.
Difficult words 'A Casual Vacancy' I came across
today:
Rummaging: search (through)
Scrutinized: investigate
Sinsemillas: pot, cannabis
Magnanimity: selfishness
Intermittently: occasionally, again
Nepotism: discrimination
Opaque: clouded, muddy
Deity: god, worshiped being
After I finished "A Casual Vacancy', I am going
to start reading the Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children book series.
I'm truly looking forward to this, because I’ve heard the books are very well
written and exciting.
