Create a possible character
that could be included in the group. Your character should have a flaw, just
like Violet, Augustus, Mike, or Verruca do. Write two short paragraphs about
your character: one about the character’s flaw and one about what happens to
the character in the factory.
Michael Penniman
Lanky, skinny boy with a head full of brown bouncy curls, big blue eyes
Awkward, nerdy, but very intelligent and talented (sings, dances, knows
a lot about science, speaks 5 languages and is a very advanced and enthusiastic
rock climber)
‘We’re now entering quite dangerous surroundings, as you can see.’ Mr.
Wonka suggested towards the uncountable amount of little DANGER signs. As all
of us filed in and one closed the door of the next room behind us, we finally
look around and I can imagine shock appearing on all of our faces. As I’m
saying ‘look around’ I of course mean: look up. We found ourselves at the foot
of a humongous mountain and behind that more mountains. They seemed to go on
forever. They were huge, pink, blue, green, yellow. ‘Candy Rock!’ Screamed mr.
Wonka vivaciously. ‘Candy Rock!’ He said
again, as we all looked at him rather flabbergasted. It was unlike anything
we’d seen all day. Michael was the one who stepped forward. With his bony
shoulders, unusual tentacle-like arms and big, wide spread open eyes, he came
across as some degree of terrified. But when he opened his mouth, he turned out
to be a very polite and happy young man. If only he could stop talking about
everything he was so good at. Naturally it shouldn’t have surprised us that he
was supposedly very good at rock climbing, too.
‘Let me have a go, please.’ He asked as he as much towered over Mr.
Wonka. Who politely took a step back, looked over his shoulder and looked back
up and down Micheal. ‘No. I don’t think so.’ Is what mr. Wonka said. ‘Oh, but
please. It looks amazing. What an opportunity it would be to be climbing such
rocks.’
‘No. I don’t very much think so, young lad.’ Replied Mr. Wonka. ‘It is
very much so not safe at all.’ Again he waved in the general direction of the
DANGER signs. ‘It is indeed very dangerous.’ Mr. Wonka said to himself. As if
he were to be pondering on the fact why again it was that he put those signs
there. Michael looked, with terrified eyes, at mr. Wonka, like he didn’t
believe what the man was saying. He looked at his mom, who was very boney, tall
and looked rather terrified as well, and then he seemed to have decided
something. He eyes narrowed just a tiny bit. Where all day he walked as though
he was afraid he would bump his head, he now straightened up and put his chin
in the air, which made him appear almost like a giant. ‘I would like to climb those
rocks.’ Is what he stated. ‘And I will.’
‘Oh my dear boy, there is no possible scenario I can think of where you
would climb those rocks.’ He sighed and looked up at the mountains. ‘Much much
much too dangerous.’ Mr. Wonka muttered to himself. ‘Very dangerous indeed.’
All of us stared at mr. Wonka and Michael in turns.
Michael’s mum, Mrs. Penniman who’d been quiet all day, was fidgeting
with the collar of Michael’s blouse. ‘Dear, I know you want to, but it’s best
if you didn’t.’ She whispered to him.
‘Mum. I can make my own decisions. I want to do this. And I’m going to.
Now.’
And with that he stalked off to the oempaloempa’s who were axe digging
at the foot of the nearest mountain.
Less than three,
A teacher to be,
Hannah
