Expanding my vocabulary | Anneke

Spotted today in the BBC news app:

Aides: assistant
Ceasefire: wapenstilstand
Braced: make a structure stronger or firmer
Denounces: Discontinue, recite
Dictate: prescribe
Atrocities: abomination, horror, abhorrence
Convoy: transfer
Coalition: alliance
Stiff resistance: rough opposition
Desertion: abandonment

Today written in the Guardian app:

Crank up: start (up)
Condemns: judge, convict
Consolidates: increase, reinforce
Tantrums: an uncontrolled outburst of anger
Narcissist: Having an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance.
Assault: attack
Minimalism: A trend in sculpture and painting that arose in the 1950s.
Nourishing: satisfying
Commute: convert, reverse
Sclerosis: excessive resistance of change

What occurred to me was that in comparison with last year I actually need to do my best to find difficult words. I think I can conclude now that my vocabulary has expanded more than I thought.
